I never met Nan face to face – we just chatted on the phone, and exchanged emails. We did this quite a lot! Nan’s tone was always pleasant, and helpful, and it seemed she really tried to help both students and colleagues. She took a real interest in the Masters programme that I direct – on Human Animal Interactions, but I do not recall her ever telling me that she had a special affinity to dogs herself. It does not surprise me though to learn that she did! I send you, her family and close friends my condolences. We shall miss her professionalism and kindness.
